I wonder why you assume that this is an autoreconf issue after you
removed Build-Depends that are seeked for:
configure.ac:PKG_CHECK_MODULES(GLIB2, [glib-2.0 >= 2.16, gthread-2.0, gio-2.0,
gobject-2.0])
