Package: udev Version: 0.089-1 Severity: normal I upgraded my gnome-desktop-environment package to testing, which gave me udev 0.089-1, from 0.056-3 (sarge). On reboot I noticed two things were missing:
#1. my bttv capture card no longer works. (no /dev/video2 node) #2. Sound no longer works (/usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:1163: No soundcards found.. no /dev/dsp file) After some testing my reduced both problems to udev not creating device nodes for these devices. I can't find any error messages from udev (do they get logged in /var/log/messages or somewhere else?) but sysfs2 seems to see the sound stuff, and all three capture cards. udev does create video nodes for my cx88xx capture boards, but not the bt878 board. The bttv is the more urgent problem, but I hope I could get both fixed. I'm running a 2.6.13-ck5 kernel (which was the same when everything was working with udev 0.056-1) on an AMD64 3200+ machine. I'm running debian sarge (i386 not ia64) with some testing/unstable packages. A fix may be to create a custom udev rule for the bttv card, but I can't figure out how to. Thank you.
