Dear maintainer,
python3-pythran is a build dependency of scikit-image (skimage) since
version 0.19. skimage is currently in testing for all platforms.
The current version of skimage (0.18.3) is now starting to collect RC
bugs because of incompatibilities with newer pil and tifffile versions
(#1009431, #1010430).
Currently, pythran is built only on those platforms where xsimd is
available, which in turn restricts the build of skimage to those
platforms. I asked the xsimd maintainers to have a serial fallback for
unsupported platforms (Bug #1010595); however this is no longer
possible with the new version.
Since pythran seems to be buildable also without xsimd, I would ask
you to use this as a fallback on platforms where xsimd is not
available. This would allow dependent packates (like skimage) be built
on all platforms.
skimage is one of the basic scientific Python packages which is
expected to be available on all platforms.
