We're driving this transition since gitlab wanted this version. If you require 1.4.x you're free to collaborate and work on the transition. I'll try working on updating to the latest version once we get 1.3 to testing. So it would be helpful if you could update pygit to 1.8.0 since it supports the current version (1.3.0) . I know its extra work updating the package twice. This is my first time working on a transition (I intend to be a co-maintainer for this package and am currently learning the process of how a transition works ). So I intend to go through it step by step. I'll definitely do the task of updating libgit2 to 1.4.3 once this transition is done.
No problem, we can do it this way if it helps you learn the transition process. I'll upload pygit2 1.8.0 to experimental first and wait for your signal to upload to unstable once the transition is greenlighted by the release team.
