Is this still happening with version X of ext2resize? I recommend using resize2fs for offline (umounted) resizing of ext2 and ext3 file systems, and only use ext2online in this package when needed. The latest version of resize2fs now support online resizing, so you should be able to use that too in place of ext2online. The only unique program in the ext2resize package is ext2prepare, and I will focus on getting that one fixed, and probably disable ext2resize and ext2online.
