invoke-rc.d: initscript samba, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing samba (--configure):

I really don't know how to say this, but I tried another 'aptitude
reinstall samba' a couple of minutes later and it went well this time.
(Before I posted my last email, I tried several times, without any
luck.)

After 'dpkg-reconfigure samba' and '/etc/init.d/samba start',
everything seems all right now.

Thanks for your help, Steve .

------------ extra stuff -------------
I'm using this mirror:
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

and I thought that the previous failure of samba reinstallation might
be related to the synchronization of the server. But that's strange
because I was using the latest version of samba (3.0.22-1) before I
tried 'aptitude reinstall samba'.

I really hope there is a theory which can explain this, for i've been
fighting this wired thing for a whole day.
