Hello
I have a little problem with my OSMC Client on my Raspberry Pi.
I watch mkv-files which are shared by samba on my Debian 8 server.
The files are 1280x720 H264, nothing special.
My server is on jessie a longer while now, but due to boot problems
I was still on kernel 3.2 ...
Everything works fine as it should.
Recently the boot problems are solved and I am now on kernel 3.16.
Now I have problems watching the same MKV files on my Raspberry Pi.
Often the picture freezes and it takes a few seconds (1-5) before
the video continues. It looks like the data didn't come quickly
enough for a continuous playback.
Also skipping forward takes a little while, much longer as before.
I tried to switch to the old 3.2 kernel, and that does the trick.
The problems went away without any other changes.
...
With the reference to
https://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7692&start=20 ,
apparently it was some arm-specific issue in the kernel tso implementation
in kernel 3.16.
It looks like this prob has nothing to do with samba after all,
and hopefully it has been fixed in kernel since that time.
Let's close this bug report now.
Thank you!
