Package: firefox-esr
Version: 91.7.0esr-1~deb11u1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: t...@security.debian.org

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation? Last 'apt upgrade'
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? I joined a Zoom call in Firefox private window.
   * What was the outcome of this action? In the top left corner of my screen a
borderless (and titlebarless) window showed with the text:
XML Parsing Error: no root element found
            Location: chrome://browser/content/webrtcLegacyIndicator.xhtml
   * What outcome did you expect instead? No window with error.

This is not a regression specifically in Firefox itself. However, it shows
up in Firefox. xdotool showed that this error window belonged to a firefox-esr
process. This problem did not occur prior to last 'apt upgrade'. I've uploaded
the /var/log/apt/history.log entry for this update here:

    <https://paste.debian.net/1236105/>

firefox-esr is not among the packages which were updated, so I suspect the
regression was triggered by a change in libxml2, although I'm not certain.

Screenshot of the window with error message can be seen here:

The window is "sticky", in the sense that it shows up on all workspaces and
covers all windows, including the active one (I'm using KDE Plasma). This
prevents the user from clicking on things displayed in this area, e.g., in my
case, entries of the "start menu" after pressing <Win>/<Super> or tabs in
Firefox when using the Tree Style Tab extension. Thus I set the severity to
'important'.

The window went away after leaving the Zoom meeting (before closing Firefox).
