There should be an option --lock for deluser --system that leaves the account intact but makes login impossible (by setting an invalid password, leaving existing password recoverable, and setting shell to /usr/sbin/nologin). Document this (README.adduser-for-packages, deluser(8)) as recommendation to call in postrm remove. Severity important since the suggested policy change depends on this feature.
