Package: postgresql
Version: n/a
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

the several Postgresql server packages don't provide a "Provides: "
section to be used in the "Depends" section of the debian/control files
of the packages that depend on a postgresql server.

IMHO it would be great to have a Provides for the postgresql service,
same way as the apache servers provides httpd, the several postgresql
versions (7.4, 8.0, 8.1 - ATM) could provide "postgresql-server" to be
used by other packages that "Depends" on a working postgresql server.

Having such section, for other packages the depend on the
postgresql-server, on the debian/control files instead of having:

        Depends: postgresql-7.4 | postgresql-8.0 | postgresql-8.1 |
postgresql-whatever | ....

        could be used:

        Depends: postgresql-server
