But at this point I had another problem: the machine doesn't seem to respond to the keyboard anymore, RETURN won't make the installer proceed and even stop-a doesn't work any more (should get me into openboot-prompt).
Thanks a lot for a detailed installation report. Reports of d-i and kernel testing on newer hardware are particularly valuable.
A couple of follow-up questions:
1. What happens if you add a debconf/framebuffer=false boot argument? Does it affect the problem in any way?
2. Is it a USB keyboard?
