If package src:prettify.js is broken and upstream is dead, then it is
wrong to move to embedded snapshots, because that does not solve the

Or if package src:prettify.js is unmaintainable even with patches, then
it is an indication that code should be *avoided* in Debian, which means
that instead reverse dependencies of package src:prettify.js should be
patches to *not* use prettify.js at all.

Obviously, if package src:prettify.js works fine without patches, then
it is not a problem that upstream is dead and there is no reason to
embed nor to patch anything.
It works without the patches. I agree with you not to patch this.
