If package src:prettify.js is broken and upstream is dead, then it is wrong to move to embedded snapshots, because that does not solve the issue of code being unmaintained, only hides it! Instead, please patch package src:prettify.js as needed.

Or if package src:prettify.js is unmaintainable even with patches, then it is an indication that code should be *avoided* in Debian, which means that instead reverse dependencies of package src:prettify.js should be patches to *not* use prettify.js at all. Obviously, if package src:prettify.js works fine without patches, then it is not a problem that upstream is dead and there is no reason to embed nor to patch anything.
