A new version of gnome-commander was reintroduced into Debian
unstable. According to the upstream bug report, the issue has been
fixed in upstream commit 0d0c5bdb, which was included in upstream
version 1.14.0 so this issue is now fixed in Debian. Please install the
version in unstable and verify the fix is what you wanted and if
necessary file a new upstream issue to discuss the problem.
