I understand that you are worried about the added maintenance burden. But I also offered to help you with any problems that should arise from this change. Can I offer you a trade? I see that the list of lintian issues for src:pam is extremely long. The debhelper version used by pam is deprecated and the standards version is four years old. I'd offer you to put in a few hours of my time to modernize the pam packaging and thus spend some maintenance time on src:pam so that you or Steve don't have to do that. Thus, you save some of your time which in the future you can spend on writing me an email in case there are any problems with my proposed patch. What do you think? Thanks! cheers, josch
