I intend to go with spec.txt 6.19 and change the separator to a semicolon: Doubling colons in IPv6 addresses is an unwelcome chore, so a mechanism was introduced to allow the separator character to be changed. If a list begins with a left angle bracket, followed by any punctuation character, that character is used instead of colon as the list separator. For example, the list above can be rewritten to use a semicolon separator like this: local_interfaces = <; 127.0.0.1 ; ::1 I'll change update-exim4.conf to the following behavior: for the values of dc_local_interfaces and dc_relay_nets, if a Semicolon is found in the value, add "<;" to the beginning of the string. This makes a Semicolon a valid separator, while preserving backwards compatibility. Would this help?
