Thanks, fixed for the next upstream release: https://gitlab.com/cjwatson/man-db/-/commit/84b6689805b971b1a229f060a92658571c1daa07 (This runs the whatis description through iconv rather than specifically converting the quotes, so, depending on the details of what iconv decides to do, the quotes may disappear rather than being rendered as ASCII quotes. This is in line with the behaviour of apropos(1) and whatis(1) since man-db 2.5.0 in 2007, and I don't think it's worth having a special case for handling quotes; it will handle letters with diacritics as long as the appropriate glyphs exist in the target character set, and it will at least avoid mojibake in the output.) -- Colin Watson (he/him) [cjwat...@debian.org]
