This stands in contrast to embedded or containers where space might be at premium, sometimes as low as 256MB. But even crummiest stand-alone boards sport 16GB disk at the minimum, making micromanaging space a pointless exercise. On the other hand, an extra package costs _everyone_ ~1KB of space taken by apt indices -- and this includes those small containers.
