Would you mind trying the behaviour of callgrind in an up-to-date unstable environment? You can use a chroot with pbuilder. As another try, please download a freshly rebuilt callgrind package from http://people.debian.org/~pfrauenf/valgrind-callgrind_0.10.1-1.1_i386.deb and try again.
