Package: perl Version: 5.8.4-8sarge4 Severity: important After upgrading Perl to the latest debian-security version perl_5.8.4-8sarge4, the current Perl/Tk-Module (804.027) doesn't work any more. When I start /usr/bin/widget (a standard demo program, provided by Tk), I get:
============================================================================ Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at /usr/lib/perl5/Tk/Widget.pm line 190. font "" doesn't exist at /usr/lib/perl5/Tk/Widget.pm line 190. at /usr/bin/widget line 24 Tk::Widget::new('Tk::Menu', 'Tk::MainWindow=HASH(0x8505e64)') called at /usr/lib/perl5/Tk/Widget.pm line 256 Tk::Widget::__ANON__('Tk::MainWindow=HASH(0x8505e64)') called at /usr/bin/widget line 24 at /usr/bin/widget line 24 ============================================================================ This happens both with freshly compiled sources from CPAN and also with a perl-tk packet, compiled from the unstable source (804.027-4). The default Sarge version (perl-tk 800.025-2) works but lacks of some new, needed features. Some additional background information: We have a mostly generic Debian Sarge system, regularly maintained with security updates. Some sarge-backports are installed, mainly for KDE3.5. This bug makes the whole Perl/Tk subsystem unusable on our produktion terminal servers as none of our own perl-tk applications work any more.
