Package: gedit
Version: 3.38.1-1
Reproduce:
Create a UTF-8-encoded file containing the following four symbols: Latin small
A, followed by space, followed by open colon, followed by space, and terminated
by Latin small B:
a ⦂ b
In hex, the contexts of the file is this:
61 20 E2 A6 82 20 62
On my machine, gedit shows more spacing before the open colon than after it;
cf. the attachment (also uploaded to https://i.imgur.com/qJ6MTCd.png
http://i.imgur.com/qJ6MTCd.png ). I can't imagine what could be the rationale
for the current spacing.
On the contrary, either the spacing should be equal around ⦂ (which corresponds
to viewing the open colon as a mathematical relation) or the space before ⦂
should be lesser that the space after ⦂ (which corresponds to viewing the open
colon as a mathematical punctuation).
I would be happy if my bug report finds attention.
Thanks in advance,
Peter
