Ok, then I'll reassign this issue to xfwm4. Dear xfwm4 maintainers, this seems to be an issue that crops up with some but not all window managers. I am unsure and unable to tell whether this is a documentation issue for scrot ("use -f if you get selection artifacts" with your WM), or an issue in the window manager, so I'd leave it to you to decide.
