At the moment all submodules are listed explicitly (on separate lines) in debian/python3-numpy.install This means that if numpy adds new functionality (a new submodule), it will be missing (not installed) in the debian package. This happened recently with numpy.typing (Bug#998109). As far as I can see the packaging could be simplified by replacing all the separate submodule entries in debian/python3-numpy.install with a single usr/lib/python3*/*-packages/numpy/ Drew
