Hi, i booted kernel 4.19.0-17 which stems from a Debian 10 upgrade.
Same as with 5.10-rc3: I started up brasero with empty tray of all drives. After inserting the CD-RW into the ASUS, brasero does not see it. xorriso shows that the drive is already in the bad state. So i did a power cycle with empty ASUS tray. Before starting Brasero i insert the CD-RW into the ASUS drive. Brasero sees it when starting up. So i can start the burn run. It gets to "Success", throws SCSI error 5,21,04, 1 minute of no action, then "Creating image Checksum", 1 minute of no action, then a new window pops up: "Error while burning. The drive is busy" and the drive is spoiled. So it is quite surely not about the kernel version. (But i meanwhile suspect that the SCSI error 5,21,04 is generated by the kernel and not by the drive. It does not happen with USB, it is outruled by the specs for optical drives, and i cannot imagine what command could be considered unaligned by the drive.) Have a nice day :) Thomas
