Package: kbd Version: 2.3.0-3 Severity: normal Tags: patch As reported to merge request 4 https://salsa.debian.org/debian/kbd/-/merge_requests/4
Previous description caused impression that the installation of console-data is desirable thing to do. This updates removes such impression and guides people to use console-setup without worry. Background: Thisroposal comes from discussion: https://lists.debian.org/debian-doc/2021/10/msg00017.html We now recommend console-setup as the primary recommendation now in the package dependency. Since around 2010, the use of console-setup has declined and the new installation seems to install console-setup as the default. * https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=console-setup * https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=console-data FYI: I still see a merge request is still open https://salsa.debian.org/debian/kbd/-/merge_requests/3 -- System Information: Debian Release: bookworm/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.14.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages kbd depends on: ii libc6 2.32-4 Versions of packages kbd recommends: ii console-setup 1.205 kbd suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
