Package: evolution-data-server
Version: 3.38.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Please consider backporting patches from Debian testing/unstable to stable to
switch Evolution and EDS to use CalDAV for accessing Google Contacts. The
current method of accessing it, the Google Contacts API, is deprecated and will
effectively be turned off in December 2021. This will make all requests (from
existing and new users) for calendar data fail.

The necessary patches are here:
 * https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/evolution/-/merge_requests/3
 * https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/evolution-data-server/-/merge_requests/5

I am reporting this via reportbug as there appear to be several existing MRs
(for unrelated issues) in salsa.debian.org for Evolution and EDS which have
gone unanswered, so I’m guessing the Evo/EDS package maintainers don’t check
salsa.
