Package: mrtg Version: 2.17.8+git20211012.bef7ba2-1 Severity: important Currently, MRTG uses very old patches to force to put some artifacts, as the .ok file, in specific directories of the system. However, MRTG package should allow the end users to run an instance using a local directory. In other words, the current packaging assumes that MRTG is running 'on the system' and not as a simple user, forcing a condition and being inflexible.
These patches aren't needed since MRTG 2.9.27, released in 2003-02-19, because there are the new options --confcachefile, --fhs and --pid-file. Also, the /var/run/ deirectory should be changed to /run/ (see FHS 3.0). Dropping these patches is a good way to provide freedom of use to end users. Regards, Eriberto
