Package: checkinstall Version: 1.5.3-3 Severity: normal If one just accepts an underscore in an autogenerated package name, checkinstall finishes with an error about a failed deb creation, when one looks in the log file, one can maybe get a useful message. Instead, it would be useful (and, for big packages saving lots of time) if checkinstall would validate the package name for conformity _before_ building, or giving the user a second chance to enter a new name instead of having to repeat the whole build process.
Also, it would be nice if checkinstall wouldn't propose non-working packages names as default. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.12.6-xen Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages checkinstall depends on: ii file 4.12-1 Determines file type using "magic" ii installwatch 0.6.3-1 Track installation of local softwa -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
