Package: bash-completion
Version: 1:2.11-2
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: timo.lindf...@iki.fi
I'm not quite sure what is the right package for this report, please
feel free to reassign/retitle when needed.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Install vanilla Debian 11 from netinst CD
2) Login and start gnome-terminal
3) Type "col -b < /etc/iss" and hit TAB
Expected results:
3) The filename /etc/issue is completed
Actual results:
3) Nothing visible happens. The filename is completed only if the user
knows that they need to type ESC-/.
I do not see the same issue with Debian buster.
My experience is that most people have not heard about ESC-/. For these
people this is quite a major usability issue as they are forced to type
really long filenames by hand. I hope we can improve the default
configuration and make it more usable.
