Package: librnd3-dev Version: 3.0.0-2 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts
Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from 'bullseye'. It installed fine in 'bullseye', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a Breaks+Replaces relation. See policy 7.6 at https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#overwriting-files-and-replacing-packages-replaces >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Preparing to unpack .../librnd3-dev_3.0.0-2_amd64.deb ... Unpacking librnd3-dev (3.0.0-2) ... dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/librnd3-dev_3.0.0-2_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/include/librnd/config.h', which is also in package librnd-dev 2.3.1-1 dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/librnd3-dev_3.0.0-2_amd64.deb I'm not sure whether it would be helpful, but a (versioned?) Provides: librnd-dev (= ${binary:Version}) could ease upgrading from librnd-dev to librnd3-dev. BTW, why has the -dev package been renamed from librnd-dev to librnd3-dev? It's not for co-installability of new and old versions since librnd-dev was removed from sid. cheers, Andreas
