In Debian's XMPP I have asked this question. Feedback: There are applications which have better support of OpenSSL and others with better support of GnuTLS. We should check the status with the upstream project.
I asked the upstream project about OpenSSL and GnuTLS: They *should* work identically. The maintainer haven't heard any problems with either in a while. What about a neomutt-openssl binary package? -- Stefan
