Package: courier-imap-ssl Version: 3.0.8-13 Severity: normal TLS/SSL session caching, an experimental feature, is activated by default.
It causes issues with Mozilla Thunderbird MUA v1.0.7 and v1.5.x, if the client uses SSL connection and 'Maximum number of server connections' set set to a value higher than 1. The MUA's default setting of this value is '5'. Please review https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333661 and related bugs for additional information on this issue. I consider this a problem with courier-imap-ssl as - this problem occurs only in combination with a server side functionality marked as experimental - is only known to occur incombination with courier-imap daemons My suggestion for a fix is to deactivate session caching by default and to add a note explaining which errors this may cause and/or to add a link to the Mozilla bug ID where this issue is discussed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333661 A better fix would be to make the imap daemon return an error message to the client before disconnecting so the client is able to know why the connection was dropped.
