Hi Marc I just recently adopted the package 'sitebar' and am now working through some of the old, outstanding bugs.
I read your bug report but am not sure I quite understand what you want sitebar to do. Just so we're on the same page ... 1. Sitebar works on any server that supports SSL (https). 2. Sitebar will save links for you as either http or https. So I'm not sure what you would like to achieve when you state: "A automatic detection of http/https for the links would be very helpful" Could you please clarify for me what you'd like it to do? Also, please note that in Debian Unstable there is now a new, updated (3.3.8) version of sitebar. Perhaps it already does what you'd like to achieve? Let me know.
