Hi I encountered this problem as well but the proposed solution doesn't appear to work for me.
I'm using: ii vim 6.4-007+1 Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor ii vim-common 6.4-007+1 Vi IMproved - Common files ii vim-doc 6.4-007+1 Vi IMproved - HTML documentation rc vim-gtk 6.3-071+1sarge1 Vi IMproved - GTK2 Version ii vim-latexsuite 0.20041219-2 brings the LaTeX power to Vim ii vim-runtime 6.4-007+1 Vi IMproved - Runtime files /etv/vim/vimrc contains: set runtimepath=~/.vim,/usr/share/vim/addons,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles,/usr/share/vim/vimcurrent,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles/after,/usr/share/vim/addons/after,~/.vim/after but when I call :set all in vim I get the following for runtimepath: runtimepath=~/.vim,/etc/vim,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles,/usr/share/vim/addons, /usr/share/vim/vim63,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles,/usr/share/vim/addons/after, ~/.vim/after /usr/share/vim/vim63 did not exist but after creating a symlink to vim64 syntax highlighting worked again. I believe I answered no to "installing maintainer version" but dpkg-reconfigure -p low vim doesn't ask me any questions so I can't check or modify this setting. How else can I check and/or change this?
