Hi,
it looks like upstream version 0.9.0 is no longer affected by this bug,
the tests/test-illegal-contents.t was fixed:

-  error: Invalid path 'nested/.git/hooks/post-update'
+  error: [Ii]nvalid path 'nested/\.git/hooks/post-update' (re)
