Please notice that in your page you affirm that the Debian init script for pcscd sources the /etc/default/pcscd file; while this is true for the old SysV script, for the systemd unit it isn't and the service file has to be modified manually. Would it be possible to have the pcsc-lite binary packages configured with the filter enabled and with 'EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/pcscd' in pcscd.service to make things easier in such situations?
pcscd is already configured with the filter enabled. It is the default configuration now. I also used your suggestion to use EnvironmentFile in https://salsa.debian.org/rousseau/PCSC/-/commit/de70032e4eff6c03d8e58f142e075205b64f0678 It will be part of the next Debian package.
