This bug - https://github.com/curl/curl/issues/6825 - is possibly the underlying cause of #831756 and #987187. Given the importance of the git workflow in particular, I'd like to request that you consider packaging 7.76.1 (which fixes this issue) for buster-bpo. The stable version does not seem to suffer from this problem.
