Actually it's terminfo - except for NetBSD, there's no current (past 10 years) platform that actually uses termcap other than for legacy support. I don't know - what's your list for "supported platforms"? > some other (buggy) applications work better when you claim to be xterm > when you are just mostly compatible. none that I'm aware of (excepting of course, programs that hardcode "xterm" into their scripts, of course). -- Thomas E.
