I've got a PowerMac G5 running the latest install from Adrian. It does not have any problem with fans running at high speed for prolonged time. rbthomas@kmac:~$ cat /proc/version ; cat /proc/cpuinfo Linux version 5.10.0-6-powerpc64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc-10 (Debian 10.2.1-6) 10.2.1 20210110, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.35.2) #1 SMP Debian 5.10.28-1 (2021-04-09) processor : 0 cpu : PPC970FX, altivec supported clock : 2000.000000MHz revision : 3.0 (pvr 003c 0300) processor : 1 cpu : PPC970FX, altivec supported clock : 2000.000000MHz revision : 3.0 (pvr 003c 0300) timebase : 33333333 platform : PowerMac model : PowerMac7,3 machine : PowerMac7,3 motherboard : PowerMac7,3 MacRISC4 Power Macintosh detected as : 336 (PowerMac G5) pmac flags : 00000000 L2 cache : 512K unified pmac-generation : NewWorld Looking at the original bugreport, this in not the type of machine about which the report was filed. I also have a PowerMac G4 Silver running the 32-bit install from Feb 2, 2021 from Adrian. It also does not have any problem with fans running at high speed. rbthomas@dillserver:~$ cat /proc/version ; cat /proc/cpuinfo Linux version 5.10.0-6-powerpc (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc-10 (Debian 10.2.1-6) 10.2.1 20210110, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.35.2) #1 Debian 5.10.28-1 (2021-04-09) processor : 0 cpu : 7410, altivec supported temperature : 38-40 C (uncalibrated) clock : 533.333332MHz revision : 1.3 (pvr 800c 1103) bogomips : 66.58 timebase : 33290001 platform : PowerMac model : PowerMac3,4 machine : PowerMac3,4 motherboard : PowerMac3,4 MacRISC2 MacRISC Power Macintosh detected as : 69 (PowerMac G4 Silver) pmac flags : 00000010 L2 cache : 1024K unified pmac-generation : NewWorld Memory : 1536 MB Unfortunately, this is also not the type of machine from the original bugreport. I'll look around and see if I have any MDD (mirror drive door -- the type in the original bugreport) machines. If so, I'll try to find some time to install Adrian's latest and report back. Rick
