Yes. I was not aware of that option, is it mentioned in the docs? I didnt find the reference in the manpage. apt inside the container doesn't seem to see the configratuion though. I would have expected that --variant=minbase would end up with a similiarly configured apt (debspawn login, apt install devscripts, for example).
