Weirdness ;-) Can you try whether sudo 1.9.6 from experimental has the same issue? If so, it would probably be best if you'd report this upstream (https://bugzilla.sudo.ws/index.cgi) yourself. If you can't do this, please let me know and I'll open the upstream issue myself. I am not sure whether this would be a candidate fix for bullseye, but I doubt it.
