Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

  Running "./inst" showed:

./inst: line 123: AWK: unbound variable

###

The variable AWK is used in several files,
like "aux.sh", "inst.sh", "inst.sh.apollo", "nnstats.sh", "nnusage.sh",
"prefix.c", and "upgrade_rc.sh".

There is no test if it is defined or not.

If it should be an environmental variable,
it should be mentioned in the INSTALLATION file.
