Hi Cyril,

So what should we really do about locale problem? should we may be
specify in the configuration?

but then how to allow it to be different for some section since
different daemons can be running under different locales, and if not
using syslog, they would have different timestamp locales. Or am I
wrong?

I doubt that we should keep it hardcoded to be locale.LC_ALL anyway...

Or should we finally implement automatic time data format matching also
sensing possible locales...? ;-)

Francois -- could you please send me exemplar lines of your log files
(including fail2ban log, auth.log, and apache.log/exim/postfix if you
have any of those) -- single line with timestamp would suffice.
