Package: rrdcached Version: 1.7.1-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
It looks a lot like setting DAEMON_USER to non-root renders rrdcached unable to clean up its own pidfile and socket, which are usually owned by root. I feel that this is a bug. I am attempting to follow best practice by not running the daemon as root (and choosing the munin user seems a sensible choice). -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.7 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (480, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-13-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_AU:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages rrdcached depends on: ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libcairo2 1.16.0-4 ii libdbi1 0.9.0-5 ii libglib2.0-0 2.58.3-2+deb10u2 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.42.4-8~deb10u1 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.42.4-8~deb10u1 ii libpng16-16 1.6.36-6 ii librrd8 1.7.1-2 ii libxml2 2.9.4+dfsg1-7+deb10u1 ii lsb-base 10.2019051400 rrdcached recommends no packages. rrdcached suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/rrdcached changed: DAEMON=/usr/bin/rrdcached BASE_PATH=/var/lib/rrdcached/db/ JOURNAL_PATH=/var/lib/rrdcached/journal/ PIDFILE=/var/run/rrdcached.pid SOCKFILE=/var/run/rrdcached.sock BASE_OPTIONS="-B" DAEMON_GROUP=munin DAEMON_USER=munin JOURNAL_PATH=/var/lib/munin/journal SOCKGROUP=rrdcached SOCKMODE=0660 BASE_PATH=/var/lib/munin/ OPTS="-w 600 -z 600" -- no debconf information -MD -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Deegan Hugaholic https://www.deegan.id.au/ ------------------------ Jung, zr jbeel? ----------------------------------
