I get the same result. Is it an apt-cache bug? No. myqsort() from src/step2.c seems faulty. If a unset the OWN_QUICKSORT macro in preconf/X11gccLinux/globals.h, the graphs are drawn. I could try the failed assertion, oolite is not a Debian package.
