With kernel 5.10.4-1 (also compiled in order to enable g_mass_storage) works as expected (don't know about 5.10.5-1) dmesg on "sudo modprobe dummy_hcd" Linux debian 5.10.9-custom #1 SMP Sat Jan 23 11:38:18 CET 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux: [ 105.826242] dummy_hcd dummy_hcd.0: USB Host+Gadget Emulator, driver 02 May 2005 [ 105.826249] dummy_hcd dummy_hcd.0: Dummy host controller [ 105.826253] dummy_hcd dummy_hcd.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 9 [ 105.826320] usb usb9: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0002, bcdDevice= 5.10 [ 105.826322] usb usb9: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=2, SerialNumber=1 [ 105.826324] usb usb9: Product: Dummy host controller [ 105.826326] usb usb9: Manufacturer: Linux 5.10.9-custom dummy_hcd [ 105.826327] usb usb9: SerialNumber: dummy_hcd.0 [ 105.826495] hub 9-0:1.0: USB hub found [ 105.826504] hub 9-0:1.0: 1 port detected dmesg on "sudo modprobe g_mass_storage file=usb.img stall=0 removable=y iSerialNumber=123456789" Linux debian 5.10.9-custom #1 SMP Sat Jan 23 11:38:18 CET 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux: [ 155.275150] Mass Storage Function, version: 2009/09/11 [ 155.275155] LUN: removable file: (no medium) [ 155.275210] LUN: removable file: usb.img [ 155.275211] Number of LUNs=1 [ 155.275280] g_mass_storage gadget: Mass Storage Gadget, version: 2009/09/11 [ 155.275283] g_mass_storage gadget: g_mass_storage ready [ 156.294800] usb usb9-port1: Cannot enable.
