Hi Mark! PVR recording crash might be fixed upstream in the current Kodi master trunk.
In a next few days, 19.0 RC1 upstream version is tagged, and there is even a PVR API bump for it. You can either wait for RC1 uploaded to unstable (along with full set of addons including -hts), or I can build the master trunk against unstable to see if recent fixes by Kai do help.
