It seems that either xfonts-100dpi or gsfonts-x11 is needed. According to the descriptions, gsfonts-x11 (which makes type1 fonts available for X) should be better in more cases, as xfonts-100dpi just provides 100 dpi fonts, and the xfonts-100dpi description says: This package and xfonts-75dpi provide the same set of fonts, rendered at different resolutions; only one or the other is necessary, but both may be installed. xfonts-100dpi may be more suitable for large monitors and/or large screen resolutions (over 1024x768). It seems to have been written many years ago. I suppose that "over 1024x768" intends to mean something like from 1280x800 (WXGA) to 1600x900 (HD) or 1920x1080 (full HD). But nowadays, one has screens up to 3840x2160 (4K), so that one would need 200 dpi fonts or even 300 dpi fonts. Or the description of xfonts-100dpi is just buggy. -- Vincent Lefèvre <vinc...@vinc17.net> - Web: <https://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <https://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
