Package: manpages-it
Version: 3.73-2.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The last real upload happend in 2014, more than 6 years ago. The
upstream man pages are now at version 5.10-1, even o-o-stable (which
will become o-o-o-stable once bullseye is released) has a newer
version of the man pages.

There has been extensive work on the upstream man pages as well
(inclunding, but not limited to, new major version of the tools
described).

Therefore these very outdated man pages are strongly misleading to
Italian speaking users and should not be shipped.

Additionally, upstream has moved its translation to manpages-l10n
where current translations (as far as possible) are maintained. The
upstream maintainer Mario Blättermann has just announced that Italian
will be distributed (first time) in the next major version, slated
for release on or around February 6th.

It is the intention of the Debian manpage-l10n maintainers to also
enable Italian in that manpage-l10n version.

Therefor Itialian users will enjoy current localized man pages (just
shipped by a different source package).

Francesco, if you want to help us in the transition (I'm currently
helping Tobias in maintaining manpages-l10n, but more help would be
appreciated) please contact us.

Release team: Even if for some highly unlikely reason manpages-l10n
would not ship manpages-it, Bullseye should not mislead Itialian users
for thinking to read current (localized) translation when in fact it
is more than 6 years old.
