A freshly installed package will have it executable. If previously installed from any of the buggy versions, the non-executable mode is kept. No idea if that needs extra actions (eg, force executable if upgrading from those versions) or not. Maybe worth consulting with other packagers, or something already covered in the packaging policies. Cheers, GSR
