* What led up to the situation?
Installation of a2ps on a new installation of 32-bit buster.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Try running a2ps with various inputs and configuration files
* What was the outcome of this action?
a2ps immediately segfaults with no core dump, even when run with no
arguments. The only exception that I found is
that "a2ps --version" returns the expected information:

IMPORTANT: It is only the 32-bit build of a2ps that segfaults.
I have installed the 64-bit version (on another machine, of course). It
works fine.

I'm sorry I'm not able to provide more helpful information, but a
segfault with no core dump doesn't give me anything to chew on.
